Support
Panix's V-Colo Service is essentially an unmanaged service. It is yours to administer. If you want Panix's help in administering your machine, our usual consulting charges apply. We'll be happy to discuss this with you.
Of course, if you think there's a problem with the service itself, please get in touch and we'll fix it.
If you are looking for the independence and flexibility of a colocated web server but are not willing to undertake its administration, our Virtual Dedicated Web Server may be just what you need.
If you are a Panix shell services customer, you can discuss Panix V-Colo services in panix newsgroups such as panix.questions.
Consulting
For customers with sophisticated needs and large wallets, we offer consulting services. If you're not sure how to make the best use of our services to fulfill your busienss needs, we may be able to help you. Our service is not cheap, but it's very good. Get in touch with us if you'd like to discuss this further.
File Backup and Recovery
Nightly rsync backups are available as part of the package. Panix does not do tape backups for V-Colo servers unless you arrange specially for that service.
The window of opportunity for recovering files from the rsync backup is small (only until the next nightly backup). These backups are really intended to protect you in case of a catastrophic multi-disk or multi-controller RAID failure. We provide instructions for retrieving your data.
If you're worried that we may not restore your files in time, you can always disable further nightly backups until we've recovered your files. Instructions for doing (and undoing) this are found in the FAQ.
